- BIRCH /bɜːrtʃ/ · noun
- A birch is a slender deciduous tree of the genus Betula, with thin papery bark that peels in layers, typically white, silver, or yellow. It can also refer to a bundle of birch twigs formerly used as an implement of corporal punishment. Related: aspen, alder, poplar, beech.
