- CHIMPANZEE /ˌtʃɪmpænˈziː/ · noun
- A great ape native to the forests of central and western Africa, with black hair, long arms, and prominent ears, closely related to humans; also called the common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes). Related: chimp, great ape.
- GORILLA /ˈɡɒrɪlə/ · noun
- A large, powerful primate native to Africa, characterized by a broad chest, strong arms, and a distinctive facial structure. Gorillas are one of the closest relatives of humans. Related: ape, monkey, primate, simian.
