- PORTER /ˈpɔːtər/ · noun, verb
- A person who carries heavy loads, especially in a hotel or railway station. To serve or supply (a person or place) with something, especially food or drink. Related: carrier, luggage handler, server, waiter.
- CENTRAL /ˈsɛntrəl/ · adjective
- Situated at, relating to, or forming the center of something; of the greatest importance because everything depends on it. Related: middle, key, main, principal.
- ALEWIFE /ˈeɪl.waɪf/ · noun
- A North Atlantic river herring (Alosa pseudoharengus) that migrates into freshwater streams to spawn; historically, the term also denoted a woman who kept an alehouse. Related: river herring, sawbelly, branch herring.
- FLOUR /ˈflaʊər/ · noun
- A fine powder made by grinding cereal grains, especially wheat, used in baking and cooking. Related: meal, grist, semolina.
