- A long, thin tube that makes up part of the digestive system, extending from the stomach to the anus, where food is digested and absorbed into the bloodstream. Related: gut, bowel, intestinal tube, small intestine.
- DUODENUM /ˌdjuːəˈdiːnəm/ (British); /ˌduːəˈdiːnəm/ (US) · noun
- The first and shortest part of the small intestine, immediately following the stomach, where most chemical digestion begins and where bile and pancreatic juices enter through ducts.
- JEJUNUM /dʒɛˈdʒuːnəm/ · noun
