- A person's sense of self-esteem, self-importance, or identity; the conscious thinking self. In Freudian psychology, the part of the mind that mediates between the id and the superego and deals with external reality. Related: self-esteem, self-image, vanity, conceit.

- A curved structure spanning an opening that supports weight above it; also, as an adjective, playfully or affectedly mischievous in manner. Related: curve, arc, vault, bow.
