The seven principles
Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26 to January 1, honoring African heritage and culture. Each day is dedicated to one of the seven principles: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity) and Imani (faith).
